Engineering Manager - Power & Propulsion
Would you like to join our talented team developing the Type 26 Global Combat Ship for the Royal Navy? We are at an incredibly important and exciting time in the programme now that we are in the manufacturing phase of the City Class Type 26 and we currently have a vacancy for an Engineering Manager - Power & Propulsion at our sites in either Glasgow/Filton/Portsmouth.
As an Engineering Manager - Power & Propulsion, you will be responsible for providing specialist engineering expertise to define, organise and co-ordinate the integrated Power and Propulsion (P&P) test and acceptance programme, supporting with systems integration and liaising with Technical Authorities to ensure authorisation of Test and Acceptance evidence.
This role will provide you with a great opportunity to join a newly formed team and play a crucial part in joining all threads of the business together across Power & Propulsion and Auxiliaries, ensuring everyone has a complete and integrated picture of how everything is supposed to work and will be able to prove this through testing and commissioning and trials.
Your main responsibilities as an Engineering Manager - Power & Propulsion will involve:
Developing and maintaining an Integrated Power and Propulsion Test, Evaluation and Acceptance Strategy (ITEA)strategy and test plan
Creating and maintaining a Power & Propulsion acceptance event schedule
Monitoring overall P&P acceptance status and report findings to senior management
Liaising with the Requirements & Acceptance (R&A) team to achieve the sign-off of Whole Ship Requirements related to P&P systems
Supporting the P&P Integration Manager in analysis of the integrated P&P technical solution, identifying system weakness requiring remedial action
Supporting Test and Commissioning in the generation of P&P related test forms
Witnessing ITEA acceptance events
Your skills and qualifications as an Engineering Manager - Power & Propulsion:
Essential:
Degree or equivalent qualification or experience in STEM subject/Marine Engineering
Knowledge and understanding of Design of Power & Propulsion system (electrical/mechanical)
Knowledge and experience in the development and systems integration of Power and Propulsion equipment in the marine environment
Desirable:
Understanding and knowledge of Systems Engineering
Previous experience supervising/managing a team
Chartered Engineer or working towards
Trials scheduling experience
Understanding of Ministry of Defence (MOD) acceptance processes
