Would you like to help to define the future of Global Maritime Defence capabilities? We currently have a vacancy for a Sub Surface Work Package Manager at our site in Broad Oak.

As a Sub Surface Work Package Manager, you will be assisting the Engineering Manager to manage the day-to-day programme development and support activities to cost, quality and time and in accordance with the project schedule and in compliance with BAE Systems' engineering policies and processes.

This role will provide you with the opportunity for potential for advancement to Engineering Manager in the future.

Your main responsibilities as a Sub Surface Work Package Manager will involve:

Supporting the Engineering Manager in the delivery of budgeted tasks, bids, installations and support to first line delivery teams through the efficient employment and tasking of systems, hardware and software engineers

Proactively tasking and monitoring the Engineering team in accordance with BAE Systems' processes to deliver the contracted deliverables against the agreed schedule as directed by the Engineering Manager

Preparing and reviewing engineering estimates and schedules for review by the Engineering Manager and/or other parties

Forecasting the required resource for each task and updating the resource management toolset as directed by the Engineering Manager

Providing support to the Engineering Manager for the appropriate identification of engineering risks and subsequent analysis

Assisting in the preparation of engineering reports for Governance Meetings

Deputising for the Engineering Manager as required

Your skills and qualifications as a Sub Surface Work Package Manager:

Sound knowledge of the software development life cycle is essential

Sound knowledge of systems engineering principles is essential

A sound knowledge of engineering governance and lifecycle management processes is essential

Ability to co-operate and co-ordinate activities with other projects to create a 'one team' approach e.g. to address resource peaks / troughs

Ability to motivate the engineering team (primarily software engineers) to deliver to budget, timescale and to the required level of quality and completeness

Some knowledge of hardware and electrical engineering principles/issues would be beneficial

Some knowledge and understanding of the Naval training domain are desirable

Good knowledge of project management planning tools such as Microsoft Project and resource/forward load planning tools highly desirable
