Who we’re looking for
We are recruiting for a Senior Software Engineer to work within Babcock International on Defence Systems Technology projects.
As a Senior Software Engineer you will work as part of a dynamic team developing software solutions. You will have an understanding of various development methodologies (Agile\Waterfall) and Design Patterns. You will have a good working knowledge with application development and Automated Test Environments and experience with C# and .NET.

In this role you will be expected to develop modular software functionality to meet customer requirements and be actively involved and collaborate with the software team and external stakeholders

You will produce architecture and software designs, document technical design and code and use various software development tools for Issue Tracking, Configuration control and software development and unit testing

You will also:
• Undertake requirements gathering exercises with existing and potential customers.
• Present products and solutions externally to customers and internally to senior management.
• Work closely with project teams including Project Management, Systems Engineering,
• Integrated Logistics Support, Engineering, Commercial and Business Development to develop costed proposals for new solutions that fully meet customer requirements
• Provide technical assistance and domain expertise into bidding and tendering activities.
• Make technical decisions and be accountable for all aspects of their work scope within the boundaries of their own expertise

The successful candidate will have:
A positive “can-do” attitude – this role is about timely delivery of solutions, not just about identifying problems. You will also have a willingness to think outside of the box and propose innovative solutions based on new technologies.

We would like you to have a confident ability to lead small delivery teams in addressing and presenting to customers and colleagues, but also the self-motivation to work independently where required and a drive to deliver results on time, meeting cost and quality targets, taking ownership of problems / issues whilst working diligently towards a resolution.

You will require an HNC/HND or Degree in a suitable engineering discipline (or similar relevant qualification) - Candidates without this qualification will be considered, if they can demonstrate considerable relevant experience within an equivalent role
You should also have Chartered or Incorporated status with a Professional Body such as The IET or British Computing Society. Alternatively, Membership and evidence of working towards Chartered or Incorporated status.
Finally, the successful candidate must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role.
