Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering (Ref.: 502831), to commence as soon as possible on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.  

The Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering is one of the five engineering departments in the Faculty of Engineering, offering B.Eng., M.Sc., M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes in fields of Industrial Engineering and Logistics Management. Colleagues in the Department have received substantial amount of research grants in the field of cyber-physical systems and supply chain and logistics engineering, related to robotics, virtual/augmented reality, Internet of Things and systems analytics with applications in manufacturing, logistics, construction and healthcare. Excellent facilities are provided in a number of laboratories for teaching and research. Information about the Department can be obtained at http://www.imse.hku.hk/.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering or a closely related field, with a strong commitment to research and teaching. The position is open to all research areas in Industrial Engineering and Supply Chain and Logistics Engineering.  Track records in journal publications and research projects will be advantageous. Priority will be given to those in the areas of systems/decision/data analytics, robotics and automation, digital twin, cyber-physical system, and smart industrial systems (manufacturing, logistics, supply chains, healthcare, and aviation).  The appointee will be expected to teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and supervise research students and projects.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
