Equipment Management Engineer

Would you like to be involved in a wide range of mechanical and electrical support contracts for the RN, working in a dynamic environment with opportunities to be involved in a wide range of bid activities? We currently have a vacancy for an Equipment Management Engineer at our site in Broad Oak.

As an Equipment Management Engineer, you will be assisting the governance activity to ensure the project delivers against corporate LCM, Engineering, and Product Safety policies.

This role will provide you with a range of development opportunities as this is a growing area of the business.

Your main responsibilities as an Equipment Management Engineer will involve:

Supporting the Engineering and Product Safety tasks for the Equipment Management Project

Providing advice and guidance, where applicable, on engineering and product safety, ensuring consistency in the approach and delivery across the different projects and bids.

Providing evidence for compliance with MOD and BAE Systems mandated Engineering governance, and Product Safety & Environmental systems.

Participating in reviews of proposed Post Design Service tasking with engineers and project managers to assess maturity of requirements, risk, and Product Safety argument, prior to their submission.

Developing and promoting the sharing of safety knowledge, experience and best practice across the Equipment Management team.

Supporting the activities related to the Equipment Management programme specific PSEMP (Product Safety and Environment Management) and Hazard Log.

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Experience of mechanical and electrical systems on RN Platforms, especially repair, maintenance and integration of systems and equipment

Knowledge of design support activities including the ability to conduct engineering assessments

Understanding of ship safety management systems

Awareness of general Legal and Regulatory safety requirements

Commercial awareness related to estimating costs of repairs based on engineering experience in the equipment management space

Working within a team and being able to liaise with different levels of seniority

Desirable:

Engineering experience within similar industries such as Aerospace, Commercial Marine

Understanding of how marine system equipment and materials is procured.

Preferably HNC or equivalent level qualification in an engineering subject or relevant experience in a similar environment

You will be concise, diplomatic, logical and have accurate communication skills. You will be capable of communicating technical information effectively, both orally and in writing, with colleagues, management, and externally as well as being comfortable representing BAE Systems both in the supply chain and in the customer community.

You will be responsible for quality and timely delivery of own work and as such you should be a self-starter and be able to work independently and autonomously with a degree of initiative reporting to the senior and principal engineers.
