Commissioning Project Leader

Would you like to work for an organisation which has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century? We currently have a vacancy for a Commissioning Project Leader at our site in Barrow.

As a Commissioning Project Leader, you will be responsible for leading a team of Electrical Engineers in the Reactor Test Section. You will also be responsible for the development and delivery of Test & Commissioning Strategy during design Phase.

This role will provide you with the opportunity of working on a challenging and interesting project that provides key assets to the Royal Navy, working on various boats at different states of build and across different platforms. It will provide a natural development up to Engineering/Commissioning Manager, with further development up to Senior Engineering Manager.

Your main responsibilities as a Commissioning Project Leader will involve:

Acting as Subject Matter Expert in Engineering reviews and activities during the design phase

Delivering of ready for test documentation and requirements for Reactor Electrical Systems

Overseeing Electrical rip outs for the Reactor section

Reviewing and authoring test documentation in relation to the Reactor test section

Reviewing and planning training and development of electrical engineers within the section

Deputising for the Commissioning Managers in their absence and act as temporary lead, covering all Reactor electrical section meeting

Acting as a signing member of the Reactor Test Group

Liaising with other test departments to ensure safe control of work

Your skills and qualifications as a Commissioning Project Leader:

Good understanding of installation and commissioning process of Reactor/Nuclear (Electrical) systems

Team leadership or mentoring experience

Experience of reviewing electrical technical documentation and drawings

Ideally have a min of HNC in Electrical Engineering subjects or relevant experience

Reactor plant commissioning experience beneficial but not essential

Submarine experience (operation/design/build) beneficial but not essential

You will have the drive to develop and progress your technical and leadership skills. You will be able to work well as part of a team and have an adaptable approach in a changing environment.
