Senior QC (Quality Control) Inspector (Radiography)

Would you like to play a key role in a team of multi discipline Radiography and NDE Inspectors, assuring the weld quality on Astute and Dreadnought Class Submarines? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior QC Inspector at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.

As a Senior QC Inspector, you will be fitting into a wider quality function, covering multi disciplines from Inspection to Governance, using different tools and techniques that are currently used within the department.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work in a challenging and rewarding role, with varied tasks that can be complex, ultimately playing a part in the build of our submarines. Please note this is a night shift role with a pattern of 7 (12 hour shifts) on and 7 off.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior QC Inspector will involve:

Carrying out routine work with limited supervision and complex tasks under direct supervision in their related area

Being able to access, have a clear understanding of and apply the Quality and Management Systems documentation e.g. Process Instructions, Workmanship Standards and Risk Assessments etc, applicable to your particular work scope and to obey all Hs & E rules and control measures.

Liaising/Interfacing with appropriate areas both internally and externally to ensure work schedule and results are communicated to the appropriate areas

Understanding and interpreting of Radiography Techniques, highlighting any non-conformances for inspections undertaken and report via SAP and the relevant Data Bases

Adding value to QA Standard Documentation & Processes by being part of the review team

Reporting results of Inspections using agreed process

Using Company Computer Systems Software as appropriate

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

PCN Level 2 Radiographic Inspection

PCN 2 Basic Radiation Safety

Ability to operate Radiographic Equipment and translate data

Understanding of Ionising Regs 2017

Sound computer skills Microsoft Office suite

Desirable:

Good knowledge of IRR 2017

Knowledge of the Submarine build and Welding practices
