Group Leader – EO Systems – Bristol/Stevenage

The Opportunity

An opportunity has arisen to lead a newly created EO Systems group within the EO Seekers and Sensors Department.  You will lead a multi-disciplinary team of EO Systems engineers, with the responsibility for sustaining and developing the core EO capabilities and skillsets that reside within the department, such as seeker system design, modelling and assessment, laser expertise, and test & trials capability.  This will enable the Department to continue to be well placed in supporting all MBDA’s weapon system programmes, and over their entire product life cycles, and ensure successful delivery of EO work packages.

What are we looking for?

  • A broad understanding of electro-optics (EO) and ideally EO imaging technology
  • Experience of strong team leadership and practice of team management skills and tasks
  • Experience of successfully working on small projects, ideally with academic and/or SME partners, where budget and time constraints were key drivers to the project
  • Experience of using technical software packages such as Mathworks and National Instruments products
  • A good understanding of system design across the full lifecycle from requirements elicitation and management through to verification and validation
  • Awareness of work package management, including risk management, finance control, programme management and reporting
  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent experience in Physics, Electronics, or maths related subjects
  • No barriers to gain UK Security Clearance, and willingness to undertake ‘DV level’ clearance

What’s in it for you?

EO seekers and sensors play an ever increasing role in the complex weapon portfolio.    The role offers the opportunity to play a central part in this area, coordinating the support to a number of programmes, each with varying requirements and solutions.  As such, you will have an excellent opportunity to experience a number of varied challenges and to grow your experience both in terms of team leadership and technical know-how.

You will have the opportunity to work with colleagues at other MBDA sites both in the UK and across Europe as well as continue to build connections across the wider EO stakeholder community
