Would you like the opportunity of working in a multi-disciplined / multi-national team in support of integrating the US-supplied Strategic Weapon System into the UK designed platform. We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Engineer - Strategic Weapons at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.
As a Principal Engineer - Strategic Weapons, you will be part of The Strategic Weapon Organisation (SWO) team comprising of BAES, MoD, UK Contractor, US Government and US Contractor personnel. You will enable the integration of the Trident II D5 Strategic Weapon System (SWS) into the Dreadnought submarines, solving build issues during construction of SWS / SWSS compartments.
This role will provide you with the opportunity of being part of a small, dynamic SWS Engineering team within the wider SW organisation and the chance to progress within the Strategic Weapon Organisation. The niche skills obtained working within the SWO provides opportunities to develop and grow within the team whose numbers will increase significantly over the next 5 years.
Your main responsibilities as a Principal Engineer - Strategic Weapons, will involve:
Acting as the lead within the Strategic Weapon Organisation for US supplied Coordination Documents
Understanding of US designed systems and DA / TA responsibilities
Understanding of how US / UK interfaces are controlled and managed in a build environment
Understanding of the DOORS requirements database and Systems Engineering techniques for the management of requirements
Ability to liaise with design teams to sell off US requirements and implement into the UK design effort
Your skills and qualifications:
HNC / HND / Degree in relevant Engineering area or working toward the same
Understanding of submarine platform systems
Understanding of US designed systems required to support the SWS
Ability to understand detailed technical drawings and communicate this information to others
Understanding of use of DOORS in requirements management
Understanding of UK - US Government to Government arrangements - PSA, ITAR etc
