Engineering Manager - CCS-CI

Would you like to support the Royal Navy in global operations? BAE Systems Maritime Services delivers end-to-end support to over 50 per cent of the Royal Navy's surface fleet. We currently have a vacancy for an Engineering Manager - CCS-CI at our site in Broad Oak.

As an Engineering Manager - CCS-CI, you will be managing the overall Common Combat System (CCS) Common Infrastructure (CI) engineering development activities to time, cost and quality while working closely with Design Authorities for performance.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to oversee the end to end project from start all the way through to delivery where no two days will be the same. You will be given training and development and there will be mentors available to help broaden knowledge.

Your main responsibilities as an Engineering Manager will involve:

Managing a multi discipline team that draws from system engineering, instructional design and software engineering undertaking activities in accordance with BAE Systems processes to deliver the project

Creating, maintaining and updating engineering management plans

Preparing and reviewing engineering estimates and schedules relating to developments

Ensuring engineering development activities are adequately resourced to achieve the programme in the most cost-effective manner

Forecasting the required resource

Developing and maintaining a set of engineering metrics, measurements and analysis

Providing support to the Project Manager for the appropriate identification of risk and subsequent analysis

Reporting Engineering Status and issues at product & training services governance meetings

Ensuring the overarching strategic intent of Maritime Services is followed and applied

Defining the roles and responsibilities of the project engineering team in conjunction with the Project Manager and Systems Design Authorities

Your skills and qualifications as an Engineering Manager:

Understanding integration of computer-based networks

Understanding of training development and instructional design

Strong People management experience of multi discipline teams

Some knowledge of software, hardware and electrical engineering principles/issues/regulatory requirements

Ability to track and report teams training development progress

A sound knowledge of Royal Navy (RN) submarines and / or surface warship Combat System Equipment (CSE) and associated naval architectures. (desirable)

You will proactively identify key stakeholders [both internal, customer and end user] and their needs and build effective relationships with them. You will engender trust in influential individuals in the trainer domain within the Royal Navy, MoD and Industry. You will have a well organised and structured approach to the establishment and maintenance of trainer documentation and data.
