Senior Engineer - Systems Engineering

Would you like an exciting opportunity within our Common Infrastructure Subsystem Design Team which forms part of the wider Combat System Group and are currently expanding to meet the demands of developing infrastructure solutions for the next generation RN Submarines We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Engineer - Systems Engineering at our site in Frimley.

As a System Engineer within the Common Infrastructure Subsystem Design Team you will be working across the full engineering lifecycle from requirement gathering to qualification.

You will be responsible for eliciting requirements from a range of stakeholders and then deriving and maintaining those requirements to the appropriate level for subsystem specification and supporting the ongoing process of change by raising Enterprise Change documents and providing impact assessments as required.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Engineer - Systems Engineering will involve:

Requirement analysis, derivation and maintenance at Common Infrastructure Subsystem and Product level

Defining and capturing qualification statements/cases against requirements

Creation of subsystem design material

Creation and maintenance of Interface Control Documents

Creation and maintenance of design checklists to indicate design safety and maturity

Supporting to the ongoing process of change by raising change documents and providing impact assessments

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

A degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering or related scientific discipline

Through lifecycle System Engineering Experience (from requirement analysis and design through to qualification)

Experience of interface specification

Familiar with a formal Systems Engineering Lifecycle

Knowledge of at least one or more of the following: -

Computing Technologies

Storage Technologies

Network Switches

Network Routing

Gateways

Firewalls

TCP/IP Networking

Consoles

Operating Systems

Interfaces, including HCI, Power, Mechanical

Capture and Management of Requirements using relevant tools

Desirable:

IBM Rational DOORS

Enterprise Architect (SysML Modelling)

Siemens TeamCenter or other configuration management tools

Experience of interface specification

Experience of network design

Experience of Microsoft Office Tools (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Visio)

Complex Systems and Support:

Complex Systems and Support (CS&S) is part of BAE Systems Submarines. We predominantly supply to the UK MoD but with smaller derivative work done in support of international Customers. Our team is responsible for system design, build and/or procurement of the major electronic and mechanical systems on a submarine, as well as provision of test, integration and support services.
