Flight Systems Engineer

Would you like to join our highly skilled and professional engineering team that covers a diverse range of system engineering? We currently have a vacancy for a Flight Systems Engineer to be based at one of our UK sites either in the Northwest England, East Yorkshire, or Prestwick (Scotland) areas.

As a Flight Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development and support of mechanical, electrical and fluidic aircraft systems such as landing gear, fuel, electrical power generation, crew escape, environmental control / thermal management, flying controls, and propulsion integration. You will be involved in aspects of the full engineering lifecycle which could include anything from concept, requirements definition, through design and development and providing in-service support.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to develop specialist knowledge and technical expertise in the engineering specification, development, clearance and support of Flight Systems. This is a good opportunity to consolidate core systems engineering principles, with exposure to different aspects of the engineering lifecycle and engagement with different interfacing disciplines, suppliers and Customers.

Your main responsibilities as a Flight Systems Engineer will involve:

Producing and issuing Flight Systems engineering data to meet project requirements in line with agreed standards and procedures, whilst maintaining quality, cost and schedule adherence

Liaising with other engineering and project areas in a collaborative environment to develop engineering solutions

Performing engineering tasks dependent on lifecycle phase which could include requirements development, system and equipment design and development, modelling and analysis, system integration, qualification and certification, and testing

Writing specifications, reports and proposals

Opportunity to support numerous projects and platforms in both the air and maritime sector, covering a diverse range of mechanical, electrical and fluid systems

Working with customers to support delivered systems and resolve issues

Your skills and qualifications as a Flight Systems Engineer:

Essential:

HNC or equivalent experience or qualifications in relevant STEM subject (Aeronautical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering/Physics/Maths/Science)

Competent in Microsoft Office packages and an ability to develop competence with more specialist toolsets as necessary

Ability to effectively research system design data and apply to complex problems

Desirable:

Experience and knowledge of at least one of the following :

  • Model-based systems engineering principles, tools and techniques
  • Crew systems, thermal management / environmental control systems, electrical power generation and distribution, flying controls, propulsion integration, actuation systems including electrical, and systems health management
  • Control system design, and modelling and simulation of both classical and advanced control systems

Background in System Engineering

Experience of engineering lifecycle

Knowledge or experience of system modelling and simulation toolsets

Salary: £32660 +
