The Opportunity

An opportunity has arisen to develop Test Equipment for some of MBDA’s most advanced products and support this same equipment in a state of the art production facility. The role encompasses a broad spectrum of engineering technologies offering the right candidate challenges in their core field, whilst providing scope for growth and career progression. This role is based in Bolton.


What are we looking for?

High performing teams need high performing and proficient individuals. Individuals will be able to demonstrate a number of the following attributes:
  • Ideally HNC (minimum) qualified in a relevant electronic / electrical / RF discipline.
  • Experience in operation and structure of test solutions (RF experience advantageous)
  • Experience in a production support role is an advantage but not essential.
  • Familiarity with the test techniques used on RF, Analogue, Digital, Optical, comms, functional test and ESS (environmental stress screening) processes.
  • A good communicator with the ability to influence the design of the product to enhance its testability.
  • Ability to take ownership of assigned tasks and investigations and develop solutions to problems with some guidance and direction from other specialists where required.

 The Role

This role involves performing a range of tasks in support of the more experienced Production Design Support Engineers across the product set that they support. These tasks will be carried out in accordance with all relevant processes, quality and other requirements. They will include:
  • Working within highly skilled teams contributing to the design, development and deployment of a wide spectrum of leading edge test equipment systems, providing test solutions for MBDA product sub-assemblies, units, and systems, from product development phases through to manufacturing testing and trials
  • Collaborating closely with various teams in the manufacturing facility at Bolton and the design teams at Stevenage
  • Participating and contributing to all aspects of MBDA test systems with respect to new innovations, developments, manufacturing capability, quality and design decision gate reviews, including design for test and test requirements definition.
  • Support, develop and deliver new design and modifications to existing test systems for a variety of test equipment programmes (including live missile testing).
  • Provide technical support on test systems; to project teams, manufacturing teams, customer support functions and customers directly.
  • Writing technical reports and keeping a log of investigation work for self-reference and for the reference of others.
