SSEN Transmission owns and operates the electricity transmission network in the north of Scotland, transporting energy from where it is generated to where it is needed, providing a safe and reliable supply of electricity to the communities it serves. What is the Role?

We are currently recruiting for an Asset Engineer (Overhead Lines) into our Asset Management team to assess, understand and predict the performance, integrity and condition of OHL & associated assets and enable timely interventions to maintain overall network reliability.

Working closely with the Project Delivery and Operational Teams, you will deliver value and contribute to the overall operational excellence of the business. This will require a practical approach combining effective and efficient technical advice on OHL & related matters and the accurate review and reporting of asset condition from which you will be required to undertake thorough and detailed interpretation and analysis before making recommendation on the need for interventions on Overhead lines.

You will be required to communicate the results of such assessments effectively to various stakeholders and assist in developing work plans including the design of repair/modification/replacement works, cost estimating and programming.

This role offers the successful candidate a unique opportunity to become involved in the full life cycle from conception to decommissioning of large infrastructure. Although office-based, you will make frequent site visits and enjoy immense variety in your role that few other companies could offer due to our unique portfolio of assets.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, you should have keen interest in asset management and significant hands-on experience of either design, construction or operation & maintenance of Overhead Lines and ideally educated to degree level in a relevant Engineering subject.

You will have an understanding of legislation, design and operational standards. The ideal candidate will be Chartered or close to it, and will have significant experience relating to asset integrity assessments, management of risk and performance of ageing structures.

You will display excellent communication and interpersonal skills and possess an innovative mind set, with a flexible approach.

Furthermore, you'll have the capacity to deliver high quality work on a consistent basis in a demanding environment.

The technical support and guidance you provide will relate to overhead lines and associated assets.
