Senior Production Engineer

Would you like to work within the Manufacturing Engineering organisation to build and refurbish Radar systems? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Production Engineer at our site in Cowes.

As a Senior Production Engineer, you will provide a depth and breadth of Production Engineering knowledge and experience to support the existing product range and future product development. You will be working within the Manufacturing Engineering Organisation where you will plan, define and implement the manufacturing systems, processes and facilities required for the successful manufacture of complex electro-mechanical equipment's for existing and future products.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work within a varied and technically very challenging role where no two days are the same. You will have exposure to cutting edge and high specification products.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Production Engineer will involve:

Applying a depth and breadth of Production Engineering knowledge and experience to supporting and undertaking development in the following disciplines: Mechanical fitting, Electromechanical assembly and Cableform manufacture

Interpreting production drawing data to identify and generate tooling requirements, manufacturing process requirements, handling & safety requirements and estimating assembly times

Creating methods and routings for new build, rework, salvage and survey and refurbishment

Creating and maintaining manufacturing work instructions to provide clear, unambiguous instructions to assembly technicians

Conducting the following health and safety related activities: Risk Assessments, COSHH Assessments, PUWER Assessments and Manual handling Assessments

Undertaking technical liaison with sub-contractors and customers

Developing training packages to ensure new technologies and processes are understood and correctly implemented

Working alongside development teams to ensure Design for Manufacture is considered for all new products

Your skills and qualifications as a Senior Production Engineer:

Essential:

Good working experience of Electro-Mechanical assembly is essential

Experience of working in a Manufacturing Environment with Lean Manufacturing Principals

Experience and a good understanding of Production Engineering principles with the ability to read and understand engineering drawings

Understanding document configuration management principles

HNC/D qualification in engineering as a minimum

Desirable:

Understanding of SAP system

Experience in delivering process improvements

Business/commercial awareness when considering MRP decisions

Knowledge of CAD

Knowledge of Team centre

You will have good customer engagement experience with an understanding of requirements and an approach to trouble shooting, resolving problems and ensuring customer satisfaction. You will be confident and effective where issues arise within the internal and external business. You will be an effective communicator of technical issues, in both written and verbal mediums being able to adjust the content for the specific audience.
