Would you like to play a key part in a Supply Chain? We currently have a vacancy for a Supply Chain Manager at our site in Portsmouth.

As a Supply Chain Manager, you will be reporting to the Ship Repair Delivery Supply Chain Manager, to work with the Commercial, Operations and Engineering teams to provide a resource to plan, select, negotiate, purchase, expedite and make available materials to meet stringent project cost, quality and timescales requirements.

You will be working with the relevant Category Manager, implementing contracts and making contract amendments for materials whilst enabling agreements to provide business risk assurance and value for money commitments. You will contribute to the development of the warship support supply chain function to harness opportunities for the operations delivery, the function and BAES wide strategic initiatives. You will provide governance for all processes associated with the supply of materials and manage a team of procurement professionals.

This role is an Executive role that will provide you with the opportunity to develop further across Supply Chain and a platform to develop your skills further across the business

Your main responsibilities as a Supply Chain Manager will involve:

Executing all material procurements in conjunction with the Engineering, Operations and Project Management teams making sure timescales and lead times are embedded in the project plan

Selecting the appropriate make/buy and implementing category/supplier solutions developed by the category team

Working closely with the category managers to ensure contracted terms and value for money solutions are delivered and providing the best solutions for the business, that combines least cost, risk, with highest quality schedule compliance

Purchasing using online tools and the ERP system (SAP) in compliance with supply chain procedures and best practice

Expediting hard and soft deliverables on time and in full and to the correct quality standards. Identifying potential risks and issues and work with the wider team to find resolutions

Managing the project lifecycle, ensuring deliverables are met, and amendments are implemented. Closing out contracts at end of life with no enduring liabilities

Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with all key stakeholders, including customer and suppliers, maintaining regular communication and managing expectations

Managing the material risks and opportunities within the project using the appropriate business processes to ensure these are effectively and appropriately addressed, escalating where necessary for senior and / or independent decision making and support

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential

Solid Supply Chain best practice knowledge and experience

Able to drive strategy execution

Can lead the effective implementation of corporate procurement processes and develop procurement policy

Experience of deployed support contracts and international contracting

Proven track record of successfully driving teams

Desirable

Experience as a lead within an organisation of an equivalent size and scope

Experience within Defence supply chain

MCIPS or working towards
