Would you like to be part of a collaborative team working across all sectors within the UK? We currently have a vacancy within Shared Services for a Communications Manager for Early Careers and Skills.
In this role you will be responsible for leading the implementation of a UK-wide communications strategy for early careers and skills that enhances BAE Systems' reputation and supports the businesses' objectives and priorities.
This role will provide you with the autonomy to be innovative, creative and see your ideas come to fruition across the business. You will be working with all other sectors across the UK which will require some UK-wide travel. Ideally the role is based in the North West of England.
You will also have the opportunity to be involved in devising and delivering the communication plans for a number of UK-wide programmes.
Your main responsibilities as a Communications Manager will involve:
Developing an overarching narrative for our UK early careers and skills programmes.
Creating and driving communications activities to raise the profile of our apprentices, graduates and the schemes we have in place to support them, internally and externally
Building and maintaining relationships with the Early Careers team and other key stakeholders to ensure delivery of the communications strategy for early careers and skills
Developing and delivering material that inspires and engages our current and future employees.
Working closely with the Group and sector communication teams to ensure alignment with the narrative and strategy
Supporting the development and delivery of all company messaging using appropriate engagement techniques
Work with the Corporate Communications team (media, employee and events), Government Relations and with the sector communications teams to deliver internal and external communications to support key events and initiatives (e.g. Schools Road Show, World Skills, Big Bang Fair, Apprentice Awards etc.)
Supporting our early career's team in raising the company's profile on education with a particular emphasis on encouraging young people from all backgrounds to take part in STEM activities
Your skills and qualifications:
A communications generalist with significant experience of successfully balancing the internal and external communications requirements
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong project delivery capability with experience of managing multiple projects
Experience of initiating and running successful communication campaigns
Significant problem solving and issues management capability
Experience of successfully managing multiple senior stakeholders
Experience of leading a team
What we're looking for in you:
You will be a collaborative and creative individual. You will be a team player, with strong influencing and negotiating skills, but will also have the ability to complete projects with minimal supervision.
Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, with attention to detail, are key.

Salary: Circa £45,000 Per Annum
