Would you like to work in a role in Enterprise IT Services (EITS), a Shared Services business within BAE Systems? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Project Accountant based in Preston

Shared Services provides shared capabilities and business services to BAE Systems' UK operations and external customers. Shared Services consists of seven lines of service, one of which is EITS. EITS provides IT services across the UK businesses and collaborates with colleagues in the US and Australia businesses on enterprise-wide services.

As a Project Accountant, you will support the Senior Finance Manager and SMT in the effective financial management of all IT Services provided by EITS. This includes the production and update of a Summary Status Report (SSR) for all Services on a periodic basis, prior to review with Service Manager, the Service Cost Management team and functional management. Establishing and maintaining effective Financial Control will be key to success in this role.

This role will provide you with an exciting and diverse opportunity, in a fast moving environment, where you will work closely with other business partners to maximise value to the business.

Your main responsibilities as a Project Accountant will involve:

Production and maintenance of a Summary Status Report (SSR) for all Service costs on a monthly basis. This will include the reporting of actual costs and commitment from SAP, and regular updates of Estimate to Complete (ETCs).

Leading Service Cost financial reviews with key stakeholders including Service Cost Management and Service Managers on a periodic basis.

Provide support to key corporate reporting requirements including current year forecast, business planning (IBP), variance analysis and risk & opportunity management.

Monitoring and reporting actual costs on a monthly basis (through SAP) ensuring they are in line with expectations.

Drive robust financial control and implement / perform corrective action where required, such the processing of SAP journals to ensure costs against individual Services are in line with expectations.

Assist business partners in the ongoing management of Purchase Order Commitment.

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential Skills

Part qualified Accountant - CIMA, ACCA, ACA

Demonstrable level of business acumen, with focus on improvements

Ability to prioritise; ability to manage workload and flexibility to achieve deadlines

Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and collaborate with different people

Advanced Excel skills and understanding of accounting standards

Evidence of producing accounts and Management information

Experience working with Board packs and balance sheets

Desirable Skills:

Prior experience of Project Accounting

Prior experience in a matrix organisation

Prior experience of SAP

You will also possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to support senior stakeholders of the business.
