Materials Management Lead - Transport
Would you like to work within our Submarines Business which has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century? We currently have a vacancy for a Materials Management Lead - Transport at our site in Barrow.
As a Materials Management Lead - Transport, you will be responsible for leading the day to day operations of a diverse Transport Department to deliver all required material some of which weighing in excess of 800 metric tonnes to its destination as safely and efficiently as possible whilst maintaining all legal requirements laid out by the Department For Transport.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to work within a busy and varied role where no two days are the same.
Your main responsibilities as a Materials Management Lead - Transport will involve:
Leading SHE activities and the wellbeing of the teams
Complying with all Operator's Licence undertakings laid out by the Traffic Commissioner
Managing Team resources and activities to satisfy project schedule demands, goals and objectives
Supporting, leading and coaching the team to achieve departmental Key Performance Indicator's by ensuring material is delivered and available to business requirements
Liaising across functions and internal / external stakeholders to ensure that material is available and delivered to business requirements
Assessing departmental policies and procedures, on a periodic basis, to remove any inefficiencies and confirm that they are sustainable for business needs
Analysing and interrogating data to understand how and where material issues occur using (LfE) Learning from Experience, analytical toolsets (Pareto, Root Cause Analysis etc.) in order to assist problem solving activities
Deputising for and representing the Supply Chain Manager as appropriate
Producing detailed and meaningful outputs which evidences the team's consistent approach to Material Management on a day to day basis
Supporting the engagement and communication strategies in order to ensure team, customer and stakeholder participation
Your skills and qualifications as a Materials Management Lead - Transport:
Transport Management experience is essential
Demonstrate the ability to promote continuous improvement
Excellent stakeholder relationship skills
Highly motivated and driven to deliver departmental and business targets
Skilled in use of standard Microsoft Packages, Business Systems and the ability to produce robust analytical datasets
Certificate of professional competence for Transport Managers (CPC)
Experience of abnormal loads
