Senior Engineer - Nuclear Safety Regulatory Compliance & Interface

Would you like to work within a team of specialists who provide advice and guidance across all levels of the business? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Engineer - Nuclear Safety Regulatory Compliance & Interface at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.

As a Senior Engineer - Nuclear Safety Regulatory Compliance & Interface, you will provide independent advice and guidance to the business, on compliance with statutory and contractual obligations. You will provide advice and support on the requirements of the nuclear site licence, site authorisation and environmental permits, managing all aspects of regulatory inspections, correspondence, issues management & meetings between the business and the external nuclear regulatory authorities (ONR, DNSR & EA).

This role will provide you with the opportunity to influence business management arrangements and ways of working by interfacing with a broad and diverse range of internal and external stakeholders and authorities.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Engineer - Nuclear Safety Regulatory Compliance & Interface will involve:

Providing advice to the business so that nuclear and radiation safety principles are applied appropriately to the development of business wide standards and processes

Supporting and advising on the framework of arrangements to demonstrate compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, principles and standards governing nuclear and radiation safety and associated protection of the environment

Supporting the track and review of changes to Licence Conditions, Authorisation Conditions, Permit Requirements, other related legislation and regulations to advise the business

Supporting the ongoing development, review and maintenance of management arrangements and documentation

Representing the company at external meetings associated with safety and regulation of nuclear sites as delegated. Capturing best practice from across the nuclear industry and applying this across the business area to comply with current legislations

Attending the company's formally constituted forum, committee and authorisation groups with respect to regulatory compliance and interface issues

Providing advice and support for inspections, correspondence, issues management & meetings between the business and the external regulatory authorities (ONR, DNSR & EA)

Developing, supporting and mentoring members of the Regulatory Compliance and Interface team as required

Your skills and qualifications:

Experience of technical / report writing and persuasive written argument

Experience of providing technical advice to senior stakeholders

Experience and or knowledge of the Nuclear or other highly regulated industry

Specific knowledge of licence conditions, authorisation conditions and permit requirements

knowledge / experience of nuclear and radiation safety principles

Ability to understand and interpret regulatory requirements

Engineering or Science (suitable discipline) degree
