Principal Engineer - Support Engineering (AR&M)

Would you like to play a key role within the Submarines Enterprise and support the in-build and in-service support engineering activities that enable safe, available, supportable and capable submarines to effectively support UK defence? We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Engineer (Availability, Reliability and Maintainability (AR&M)).

As a Principal Engineer - Support Engineering (AR&M), you will be working within Support Engineering team, using your skills and expertise to influence and assure the design and development of support solution for In Astute, Vanguard, Dreadnought and future classes of submarine.

This role will provide you with a unique opportunity to challenge your technical skills by contributing to one of the most complex and important engineering programmes in the world today. This role will give you access to future opportunities for progression either within the team or wider business.

Please note occasional travel to other sites will be required.

Your main responsibilities as a Principal Engineer - Support Engineering (AR&M) will involve:

Undertaking AR&M and supportability analysis to influence and assure the design of in-build and in-service Royal Navy Submarines, specifically but not limited to the Combat Systems

Developing, through AR&M and supportability analysis, case reports that provide the body of evidence to assure the design and modification of submarine equipment and systems

Provisioning of AR&M and supportability expertise to RN Submarine programmes to make sure that AR&M and supportability are considered as an integral part of the design

Managing, as directed by the Engineering Manager - support engineering, discreet packages of work, liaising with suppliers, internal engineering teams and the customer to deliver AR&M and supportability solutions

Your skills and qualifications as a Principal Engineer - Support Engineering (AR&M):

Essentials:

Practical experience of delivering AR&M and supportability analysis and case report writing in support of assuring equipment and system design and modification

Knowledge of the appropriate defence and/or associated standards associated with AR&M and supportability

Degree level qualification (or equivalent practical experience) in relevant STEM subject (Engineering/ Physics/ Maths/ Science)

Demonstrable knowledge of AR&M and supportability tools and methodologies

Desirables:

Knowledge of working in a defence environment

Knowledge of systems engineering, combat systems engineering or electrical engineering
