The School of Aerospace Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering (AMME) is one of Australia’s premier engineering schools with an international reputation built on more than 130 years’ experience. It is home to some of Australia’s most prominent research centres in the fields of aerospace, mechanical and mechatronic engineering.

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding academic at the level of Professor to the newly established role of SmartSat CRC Chair in Aerospace Engineering, to help shape the future of satellite and space systems development in Australia.  The successful candidate will have a strong research and leadership profile in all areas of satellite systems engineering and will work to enhance our research profile while providing leadership within the discipline. 

The position will work closely with the SmartSat CRC to develop fundamental and translational research related to satellite system development. The position will also lead the strategic direction in research and education within Space Engineering for the School of AMME, the wider University of Sydney community, and hold or develop a prominent position of national and international disciplinary leadership.  This includes setting the broad direction for the Aeronautical and Space Engineering degree program and delivering innovative, experiential learning opportunities at the Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels that prepares our students to work at the highest levels of the international Aerospace Engineering sector.
