We are seeking to appoint a distinguished senior academic as Associate Dean (Research) to support all academic staff in achieving outstanding academic performance. Under the direction of the Dean, the Associate Dean (Research) plays a key role in the achievement of the University’s research strategy and ensuring the quality of research outputs. The position informs and represents the research enterprise of the faculty, implements faculty funded research programs, and provides advice to the Dean on research matters. The position also contributes to the planning, setting and communicating the academic and operational vision, strategies and goals of the faculty with particular reference to the Research portfolio.

As a member of the University Executive (UE) Research Committee, the Associate Dean (Research) will bring formulated faculty views on specific matters and provide input to discussions from a University-wide perspective.

The position of Associate Dean (Research) is responsible for:

  • internal leadership and coordination of views across schools within the faculty to ensure that the relevant committee can proceed with discussions and decision making
  • reporting back to faculties on decisions reached in UE related committees

The successful candidate will be expected to provide input to discussions and decision making from a University-wide perspective so that the institutional strategic goals are central to the committee’s deliberations.  The Associate Dean (Research) supports the Dean and faculty leadership team to lead the enhancement of existing collaboration and cooperation between schools within the faculty and their interaction with the other faculties of the University.  The Associate Dean (Research) demonstrates and enables the values of the University in relation to its people and culture.
