AWE are seeking Project Managers (PM) to independently deliver limited complexity construction, rekit, production, science and transition projects, including some which will be delivered through framework contracts and major delivery partnerships. Typical project values at this grade, range from £100K to £1Mk.

The role will not only provide a great opportunity for the individual to be part of some unique and exciting programmes and projects, but also the chance to develop their skills and experience further, in one of the most complex, safety critical, and strategically important environments in the industry.

To qualify for the role, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate appropriate project management competence, skills and experience (not necessarily within the same industry); drive and determination to deliver excellence in all aspects of their work; a strong safety culture; and a desire to continue to learn and develop professionally.

Key Accountabilities:

  • The delivery of the assigned project or projects to scope, time, cost and quality requirements, in compliance with AWE processes.
  • The development of clear requirements and thereafter options, with sponsors, stakeholders and end users, to ensure outcomes are delivered.
  • To ensure alignment and integration with overarching programmes.
  • To ensure accurate governance, forecasting and reporting of project cost and schedule performance.
  • To ensure project resources are appropriately managed, led and utilised.
  • To maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player.

Key skills and experience required:

  • A relevant degree, preferably engineering based, and evidence of project management qualifications and competence.
  • The ability to read, analyse and interpret charts, spreadsheets, schedules and (in some projects) technical drawings
  • The ability to manage cross functional resources effectively (people, budget, equipment), in a complex environment.
  • Evidence of working with standard form contracts (NEC, JCT, etc)
  • Experience of initiating, directing and conducting risk and opportunity identification and management.
  • A clear and concise communication style (oral and written), with the ability to compile reports and present to peers and Senior Managers.
  • Occasionally fulfil any other reasonable duties, aligned to your position, to support or answer business needs.
