Engineering Technician

Ware is one of the key innovation research and manufacturing centers for GSK, developing medicines and supplying globally.  We are driven by our purpose and our values, and we are looking for Engineering Technicians to join our team.

GSK Engineers at the Ware site commission, install, maintain and improve manufacturing equipment to ensure our site remains safe and that our pharmaceutical products reach the patient on time, and are of the highest quality.

Engineering Technicians work in a team led by an engineer on shift to support the highly skilled, diverse teams across production, quality, and technical functions within our site.  Our Engineering Technicians conduct a wide range of engineering maintenance, physical interventions and repair activities.  You will be the go-to person to respond to issues and find solutions to engineering challenges, using industry leading technology.  Beyond the day to day, you will actively improve the reliability and performance of different manufacturing platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance of equipment supporting site facilities and production manufacturing operations
  • Breakdown resolution
  • Problem solving, Performance Monitoring & Continuous improvement
  • Spares allocation and management

PLEASE NOTE: The Ware site runs manufacturing operations 5 days per week and out Engineering teams support this on 5, 6 and 7 day (per week) rotating shift patterns.  Shift patterns may be subject to change according to business requirements.

About You:

We are in search of enthusiastic and committed people to join our team, able to consistently demonstrate high levels of integrity, courage and eagerness to learn.

You're a fast learner and a great communicator who can support the engineering needs of the team and may come from a variety of technical backgrounds.  Ideally you would have worked in a highly regulated industry, but this is not essential.

Relevant engineering qualifications and / or experience is required (eg; EngTech Status, Engineering Apprenticeship in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Instrumentation or related electromechanical subjects).

A good standard of numeracy and literacy is essential. We will ask you to complete the Operator Assessment Kit (OAK) online test to the required level (This is issued by email to appropriately experienced / qualified candidates).  Please note in your application if you have already passed the OAKs test.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualifications and / or experience (eg; Engineering Apprenticeship with an industrial focus.  HNC / HND Level qualification with a level of appropriate Engineering knowledge in two disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Control Systems or Instrumentation).
  • Applicants without an HNC level qualification need to have EngTech status, have completed an engineering apprenticeship and have industrial engineering maintenance experience (ideally gained within a production environment)
  • A good standard of numeracy and literacy (You must have passed the Operator Assessment Kit (OAK) test

About Ware Manufacturing Site:

Medicines at Ware are presented as either Respiratory devices or in Oral Solid Dose form. The site holds a unique position in our network as the only site responsible for launching the company’s pipeline, many of which are life-saving medicines. A series of investments are being made that will support the delivery of a record number of new products. Which is achieved whilst delivering outstanding quality, service and value to our patients.
