Materials and Analytical Scientist (Explosives - Mechanical Properties)
Location: Reading/ Basingstoke area

Working within the Explosives Physical Characterisation (XPC) Team within the Materials and Analytical Sciences (MAS) Sub-Function, you'll primarily be supporting our Mechanical Properties capability, which includes both conducting standard testing, introducing new tests, and developing bespoke tests.
It is desirable that candidates can demonstrate at least a good understanding / experience of the following:
Working with hazardous materials
Compression, tensile and bend/flexural testing of materials using a universal test machine, i.e. Instron
Rheometry, Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA) and intermediate rate testing such as Hopkinson Bar
Problem solving and troubleshooting
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities will include:
To provide technical knowledge and expertise in the field of materials and chemical science
To deliver assigned programmes, projects and processes, to the required scope, timescales, quality and cost
Analyse, characterise and assess samples using agreed analytical procedures and processes
Identify and rectify problems in analyses and processes, and/or know when to seek assistance where needed in rectifying them
Act as a representative in all relevant internal and external interactions
Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player
The Company may require you to fulfil any other reasonable duties aligned to your position from time to time in line with business needs
