AWE is currently recruiting for a Senior Estate Liabilities Specialist.

This role in the Estate Liabilities Team will be to support the development and implementation of the overall strategy for modernising the AWE Sites, clean-up of nuclear and non-nuclear legacy and managing the associated liabilities.

The focus for the Team is on the decommissioning of our redundant nuclear facilities, the demolition of our conventional buildings, the remediation and continued monitoring for land quality, the management of radioactive waste and the management of redundant and surplus materials and products. The Team proactively work with the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, other nuclear site licence companies, industry working groups and the supply chain to find innovative solutions that drive continuous improvement and the reduction of risk.

You will be required to:

  • Translate the Estate Liability Strategy into integrated and optimised plans, within agreed budgets,

  • Work with Leaders and key stakeholders to identify and implement liability plans across materials, waste, decommissioning and land quality,

  • Assess and prioritise the management of estate liabilities to reduce business and safety risk,

  • Provide strategic and planning advice on liabilities management,

  • Provide technical support for liabilities management,

  • Represent AWE at external inter-industry groups and conferences.

To be successful in this role you should have:

  • A recognised degree in an appropriate discipline, enhanced by experience or post-graduate qualification and/or Chartered status in an appropriate (STEM) Professional Body,

  • A proven track record managing and implementing plans in a highly regulated environment,

  • Knowledge of the regulatory environment in which the company operates across health, safety, security and environment,

  • Good level of knowledge/experience of working in a high-hazard industry sector,

  • An understanding of materials management, decommissioning, waste management and land quality principles,

  • Experience of working within safety, security and quality management systems,

  • Knowledge of facilitation and change management,

  • Experience of active stakeholder management at all levels,

  • Experience of project management processes and company financial management systems.
