Location: Reading/Basingstoke area

AWE is currently recruiting for a Principal Environmental Specialist, with a strong background in ISO14001 Environmental Management Systems. The role will involve leading, managing and developing a team of between 3-6 Environmental Specialists, ensuring that the team is deployed effectively and efficiently to meet the needs of our Customer and the wider business.

The team coordinates and delivers the day-to-day management of AWE's ISO14001 accredited Environmental Management System. This includes but is not limited to,

  • Maintaining Company policies and standards in line with current legislation and Company ambitions,
  • Coordination and undertaking of assurance activities,
  • Leading on aspects of AWE's Environmental Sustainability Strategy and provision of subject matter expertise to the wider business for several environmental aspects (incl. ecology, chemical management and REACH).
  • A significant portion of your role will include completing tasks as the Principal Lead for AWE's Environmental Management System, which includes liaison with various stakeholders both internally and externally, to maintain AWE's ISO14001 accreditation.

To be successful in this role you will have extensive experience of several of the following areas (gained within or outside AWE): Environmental Management Systems, Environmental assessments, ISO14001, Policies and Legislation, Sustainability and/or Operations.

Degree in an environmental science or management based subject or vocational qualification (HND or equivalent) and/or commensurate practical experience.
