Explosives Assessor (Life & Safety)

Location: Reading/ Basingstoke area

AWE (one of the best 25 big companies to work for in the UK) offer a competitive salary, market leading contributory pension scheme, generous holiday entitlement, excellent work/life balance including a 9-day working fortnight and flexible working hours (role dependent). A salary sacrifice scheme is also available. We will consider candidates looking for full time or part time hours. Just let us know on your application if you wish to work part time.

Working within the Explosives Initiation Team within the Materials and Analytical Sciences (MAS) Sub-Function, you will have the opportunity to build on your current experience to carry out bespoke safety assessments and life assessments of explosive materials. The role is predominately desk-based although there will be opportunities to undertake hands on testing, data collection and material characterisation.

Whilst we would love to hear from candidates who have a background in explosive ordnance and engineering, an experience in safety or material life assessment is key. The role offers a comprehensive training and development package where you can apply your transferable skills and experience within safety assessment and work collaboratively on a variety of projects, programmes and trials.

Ideally candidates will have a degree in a science or engineering discipline and have some experience of carrying out safety assessments or material characterisation. Experience working with multiple stakeholders and ability to write technical reports will be required.

This is a unique opportunity to apply your knowledge and expertise to support the UK's Nuclear defence programme and be part of a team of remarkable people achieving extraordinary things.

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role and be willing and able to work in designated areas.
