Job Details

The University of Hertfordshire wish to recruit an adaptable, highly skilled & qualified graduate to lead and deliver a project with Ziath Ltd, a technologically advanced instrumentation control and information management company. This project will develop and embed a new RFID system into laboratory consumables, with support from academic & company supervisors. The Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) includes a £2k per annum training budget & 10% of your time dedicated to your personal development.

About KTP

As a KTP Associate you will work with the company to embed new know-how through this innovation project using research and academic support from the University. Apply your degree through real work and springboard your career. KTP is a partly government-funded programme to encourage collaboration between businesses and universities in the United Kingdom.

Main duties & responsibilities

You will undertake research and development into fabrication of a new RFID system for a commercial product. You will work collaboratively between Ziath and the University to undertake in house design, development and testing of RFID systems for sample management. You will undertake the project through research and development phases, engaging in creative problem solving; project planning and review, and leveraging help from wider company staff. You will develop relevant training sessions and materials to embed the new knowledge and capabilities within the company.

Skills and experience needed

You will have experience in circuit simulation tools and previous practical experience in electronic hardware and software including electronic design and hardware implementation. You will also have previous experience of digital and analogue technology. An interest in laboratory sample management and bio-banking would be beneficial.

You will have good verbal and written communication English and the ability to communicate effectively with people from a range of backgrounds. The successful candidate is willing to work well in a small team, learn quickly, take on responsibilities and resolve unexpected, challenging problems.

Qualifications required

Good first degree in Electronic Engineering or a related subject area or equivalent level 6 qualification. It would be advantageous to have an MSc or a PhD Electronic Engineering or a related subject area (or equivalent level 7/8 qualifications).
