AWE has a unique opportunity for a Principal Seismic Engineer to play a pivotal role within our organisation to support our mission to keep the nation safe.

Principal Seismic Engineer

Location: Reading / Basingstoke Area

£55,450 - £85,000 dependent on experience

As Principal Seismic Engineer you will be a focal point and signpost for advice, information and expertise about policy, best practice, engineering knowledge and standards relating to seismic substantiation of structures, systems and components.

Within this role you will:

  • Review seismic substantiation of structures, systems and components for compliance against AWE guides and standards and UK and US design codes (e.g. Structural Eurocodes, ACI 349, ASCE 4, ASCE 43, etc.

  • Apply your knowledge and experience of how seismic actions affect ground motion, soil-structure interaction, structures, plant and equipment

  • Act as subject matter expert in seismic design and assessment

  • Provide due governance and management to meet relevant Nuclear Licence Conditions, safety codes and quality standards

It is expected that you will have a degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering or relevant experience. Nuclear experience, whilst desirable, is not essential.

All candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role and be willing and able to work in designated areas.
