We are looking to recruit two Power Supply Engineers to join our team at the ISIS Neutron and Muon Source. These are unique and exciting roles that will best suit engineers and technicians with practical experience in repairing and maintaining electrical and electronic equipment. We are offering phenomenal development opportunities in these positions, both within the field of electrical engineering and through exposure to other engineering subject areas. You will be encouraged to learn new skills and contribute to exciting projects!

About this opportunity:

Working at the forefront of scientific endeavour is not possible without a dedicated team of engineers able to turn abstract scientific ideas into reality. Our ISIS Neutron and Muon Source facility is the world’s most productive spallation neutron source — providing beams of neutrons and muons to enable scientists to study the structure and properties of matter for the benefit of science and engineering in the UK and abroad!

There are two opportunities available based in the Magnet Power Supplies Group, who are responsible for all power supply equipment on the ISIS accelerator and beamlines. One role is within the Pulsed Power Section, working on systems that store large amounts of energy that is released at high frequencies, and the other role is with the DC Power Supplies Section who support equipment such as power converters.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preventative and reactive maintenance of the power supplies and associated equipment.
  • Fault finding and problem solving.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement plans.
  • Installation and commissioning of new systems.

We are looking for someone with:

  • A background in Electrical or Electrical-and-Electronic Engineering.
  • Practical skills necessary to work on electrical, electronic and mechanical systems.
  • Capability of performing maintenance, fault finding and repair of power electronics equipment.

Employee Benefits:

We are offering two permanent positions that will provide you with an incredible opportunity for learning and development within your field. We also offer a whole host of benefits including; 30 days holiday (in addition to bank holidays), an excellent pension scheme, employee shopping/travel discounts, a salary sacrifice cycle to work scheme, plus many more benefits and wellbeing initiatives that enable our employees to have an excellent work-life balance.

We will ensure, where possible, that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform crucial job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment. Please contact us to request accommodation.

UKRI is an Equal Opportunity & Disability Confident Employer.
