About the role
We now have an opportunity for a Senior FPGA Electronics Engineer to join the Diamond Detector Group to develop and maintain FPGA firmware.
You will develop, maintain, and debug FPGA based firmware used in detector systems. In addition you will have the responsibility of significant packages of project work both in the detector development program of Diamond, and in the evaluation and procurement of commercial detectors
Installation and commissioning of detectors and associated electronics for synchrotron X-ray experiments and general electronics work will be also part of the duties of the successful candidate.
About You
You should hold a degree in Electronics Engineering or demonstrate significant equivalent experience. Membership of a relevant Professional Institute is desirable.
You will have extensive experience in FPGA and firmware design, debugging, and development. Experience with VHDL and a programming language (e.g C++, Java). Finally some experience in electronics systems commissioning and fault finding.
Use of data analysis applications such as Matlab, CAD software, Cadence schematic capture and PCB layout in Allegro (or equivalent), and experience with Linux and a programming language will be beneficial.
You will display excellent communication, interpersonal and presentational skills to interact effectively with staff at all levels and to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
