WHAT TO EXPECT

This role will undertake data engineering for digital projects ensuring data is trusted, accurate and timely. The Senior Data Engineer will own the structure elements of data, including data storage, data piping and interfacing with digital platforms, manage all data aspects related to data layers of the digital product, participate in data requirements modelling and testing and define the flow of data from input through to storage, including interfaces with analytics tools or end-user software.

This role will support the design, management, checking, and engineering of a diverse range of data using a variety of tools to achieve consistent data sharing across the organisation. You'll also be required to lead small sub-teams through data engineering assignments. Translate business problems into data analytics requirements and solutions that deliver value through analysing and processing data, building and maintaining models and report templates, and developing dynamic, data-driven solutions.

You will be responsible for the design, creation, test and maintain data pipelines to support InDigital projects. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will identify, design and implement process improvements in data pipelines. Automating manual processes, increase scalability, reduce run time and optimise cost. You will be building the infrastructure required to support the running of data pipelines and data warehouses that are cost-effective, robust and scalable, whilst building analytical tools and solutions to support the business in data driven decision making and actionable insights. You will help translate business problems into data analytics requirements and solutions that deliver value through analysing and processing data, building and maintaining models and report templates, and developing dynamic, data-driven solutions.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

You must have the ability to design, create, test and maintain data pipelines to support analytics projects. Through these projects, you must be able to assemble complex datasets for a range of applications and teams across the business. Having the ability to identify, design and implement processes of improvements in data pipelines.

Previous experience working in a team in one of the following functions: data analytics, software or application development, database development, the experience of designing data models/data architecture and experience in creating tests; unit testing, data quality tests, assumption testing.

ESSENTIAL
* Previous experience and knowledge of modern programming languages & scripts
* 3+ Year of Python or equivalent (i.e. Java) development experience
* 3+ year SQL development and experience in relational or NO--SQL databases
* Ability to operate the Google Cloud platform thoroughly


DESIRABLE
* Ability to communicate complex data or technical concepts to non-technical internal clients
* Proven ability to lead small teams in technical assignments
* Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
