About the role

We now have opportunities for Mechanical Design Engineers on both a full time and part time basis, to lead or support the design of our facility upgrades.

This is a varied role where every day is different and a dynamic, solution focussed, approach is required. The engineering challenges include either supporting or leading design of vacuum systems and hardware used in high vacuum, high purity gas systems, and motion systems for large optics.

About You

Suitable candidates will hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a BTEC HNC, or equivalent, with experience working in an engineering field. You should also have an understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles, manufacturing techniques and materials, and knowledge of pressure systems and gas technology. You will have experience using a mainstream CAD system, including the ability to generate 3D CAD assemblies and drawings.

The role requires the candidate to work well in a team and to be able to operate independently. You will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a highly organised approach to work, be innovative and inquisitive, with a desire to gain new skills in a broad range of areas.
