AWE is currently recruiting for a Principal Systems Engineer to join our team, providing Dependability (Availability, Reliability, Maintainability and Safety) support to technically challenging projects.

Principal Systems Engineer (Dependability)

Location - Reading / Basingstoke area

Package - £55,450- £80,000 (depending on your suitability and level of experience)

In the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) era, AWE relies on cutting-edge science and computational methodologies to verify the safety and effectiveness of the warhead stockpile, without conducting live testing.

This role will require you to work within a rigorous assurance framework and the key responsibilities will be:

  • To produce high quality technical reports and presentations

  • Undertake analysis, modelling and simulation to provide estimations, allocations and predictions

  • Development of credible strategies and plans to deliver project deliverables to time, cost and quality requirements

  • To engage with Subject Matter Experts and other stakeholders, providing specialist Dependability support as necessary

  • To develop your expertise in Dependability engineering and where appropriate, provide support and mentoring to less experienced engineers

Whilst not considered a check list, we will be looking for candidates to be able to demonstrate some of the following:

  • Systems Engineering knowledge and experience

  • Use of Reliability toolsets e.g. Failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA, FMECA)

  • Specialist experience of Dependability (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability) Engineering on complex systems or projects

  • Experience of in-service reliability assurance

  • Experience in product development but facilities experience may be relevant

  • Data analysis and technical report writing skills suitable for a range of audiences

  • Good interpersonal skills, able to engage and communicate well with a broad range of stakeholders

  • Awareness of Dependability / Reliability & Maintainability (R&M) strategies and plans and cases

  • Ability to understand technical specifications and requirements, compliance, verification

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.
