As part of our Platform Systems Division (PLS), you’ll join a world-class team developing new capabilities and delivering science and technology that protects the UK.

With a rapidly changing world and long term shifts in the balance of military power it is vital our Armed Forces continue to remain world-leading and have access to the most cutting edge and capable equipment. The recent Spending Review prioritises the modernisation of our Armed Forces' Weapons and Mission Systems across Sea, Land, Air and Space. This has resulted in a very significant additional investment in Science and Technology which has led to exciting opportunities within Dstl.

These aren’t just desk jobs - we offer hands-on work like no other, with capabilities and facilities unique to Dstl. You’ll get to the heart of how physical systems work, designing and building new features or improving performance and reliability.

Our Modelling and Simulation Engineers use world class computing facilities and their access to highly classified information to provide the fundamental evidence and advice on what weapon to purchase, how to better protect a vehicle from an Improvised Explosive Device or supporting human in the loop simulations to enable tactics to be developed by the military.

You’ll use your knack for coding and desire to use those skills to solve real-world, militarily significant problems as part of committed and close-knit team. Plus, you’ll answer complex questions from customers across the security sector, some of whom may be non-technical. So, you’ll be clear and concise, and provide impartial evidence that influences the science inside defence. Our work is critical; we need your help to help us achieve these goals now and into the future.
