Wargaming Analyst
Up to £47,007 per annum depending on skills and experience.
Fareham, Hampshire

You’ll be a key part of our game plan.

At Dstl, we develop science and technology to enhance the UK’s defence and security. We provide specialist services to the Ministry of Defence and the wider government. And we create innovative solutions that keep the nation safe. It means that everyone works collaboratively to develop their knowledge, stretch their thinking and explore new ideas.

This is especially true of our wargaming capability. We use structured analytical techniques to immerse individuals into realistic and creative environments. So when you join, you’ll use your expertise to model different scenarios, challenge established assumptions and influence tactical and strategic decisions. It’s a unique chance to follow your passions while building a broad skillset.

Importantly, you’ll work with our customers and the military to understand their needs and challenges. And then you’ll shape the research being conducted by the team and help us to implement different methods and approaches. As part of this, you’ll make sure we’re providing impartial solutions that inform unbiased decision making. And you’ll also provide technical advice and direction to a range of partners. Everything you do will help to inform vital defence and security capabilities and high-profile policies.

We’re looking for people who can bring different perspectives to wargaming. So while you’ll need relevant skills and experience, you’ll also need to be naturally curious and inquisitive. As a real problem-solver, you’ll thrive in complex situations and enjoy finding the right solution. All of this will be supported by a relevant degree and your hunger to continually learn. We’ll also rely on your ability to communicate with a range of audiences and visualise data in a meaningful way.

In return, you’ll receive a competitive pension, generous annual leave allowance and staff discounts. So, if you’re motivated, determined and want to work for a cutting-edge science and technology organisation, you’ll help the UK get ahead of the game.
