We are recruiting an Insider Threat Manager to develop AWE's approach to manage the risks posed by those that work for us

We are looking for a security professional with experience of tackling insider threat within government, defence or large commercial organisations. You will have a good understanding of the motivations and life choices that lead to individuals wittingly or unwittingly undertaking insider acts and will have experience of working with stakeholders on people security issues.

AWE's understanding and mitigation of insider threat is already industry-leading. You will be expected to champion best practice and mature AWE's approach to become enduring capability. The role is a key position in AWE's multi-disciplined security team working to mitigate the full range of threats that AWE faces. Location - This is a full time post working for AWE in the Reading area.

Key Accountabilities:

Lead a programme that transforms AWE's approach to managing insider threat:

  • Develop a strategy that draws across the full range of security functions (personnel, physical, information and cyber) to reduce AWE's vulnerabilities to deliberate and unwitting acts an insider might deliver to impact the programme.
  • Develop and implement measures that consider insider threat throughout AWE's employment lifecycle. .
  • Develop strong stakeholder relationships that embed insider threat prevention measures.
  • Develop and implement tools to identify and report insider threat warning indicators and ensure response plans are timely and proportionate
  • Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality, and be a great team player.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand the environment that could lead to insider threats developing and continually review security, HR and wider AWE procedures so that workforce expectations are clear.
  • Develop and maintain a risk based approach to carefully prioritise AWE's insider threat mitigations.
  • Continually assess the performance and effectiveness of insider threat mitigations, including exercising and testing.
  • Develop insider threat security culture, through education and awareness activity, so that AWE's workforce is a vigilant, and highly engaged layer of AWE's security posture
  • Identify security requirements within AWE's transformation and capital projects programme that consider people security perspectives.
