As a Project Controller at Northrop Grumman you will assist Senior Project Controllers and the project team in effectively and proactively controlling multi-million pound projects across the NGSM portfolio.  The role may be Planning or Cost centric based on the individual project controls resource requirements. 

You will actively develop, maintain and execute complex project performance baselines by adhering to robust project controls processes and procedures

Key Responsibilities

The main tasks and responsibilities of this job are as follows:

  • Mandatory expertise and experience with directing, planning, and scheduling functions and workshops, including schedule development, control, and analysis.
  • Mandatory expertise and experience in building and maintaining a cost and schedule performance baseline which includes well defined scope, assumptions, deliverables, Work Breakdown Structure, Activity ID and integrated critical path schedule that is resource loaded
  • Scheduling activities will require direct interaction with the engineering and project management teams using and challenging Design Estimates for inclusion in the plans
  • Experience in cost related functions including cost estimating, cost control, change management, cost analysis, activity coding control, accruals, invoicing and expense management 
  • Development of an accurate Estimate At Completion
  • Hands on advanced expertise of project controls software including Primavera P6 and Deltek COBRA
  • Applying Northrop Grumman Earned Value Management System
  • Effective communications and reporting requirements that define the current status of a project in relation to the project performance baseline, reasons for deviation, and assisting with implementation of corrective action plans.
  • Assisting in proposals and change management reviews
  • Seeking continuous improvement and enhancements of current project controls methodologies
  • Professionally maintaining project-wide adherence to  processes, and procedures, sometimes in the face of adversity
  • Other ad-hoc tasks as requested

Person Specification

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience of demonstrated Project Controls, Planning, Cost Management, experience in a similar role in the defence or, construction, rail, oil and gas or manufacturing industries
  • Competent in EVMS methodologies and project controls software
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, finance or construction management discipline. Advanced Degree preferred.

Skills Required:

  • Experience working in a similar role in the Defence or, construction, rail, oil and gas or manufacturing industry
  • Understanding of project management / project business context
  • Advanced user of Primavera P6
  • Experience using cost management and finance systems
  • Advanced user of MS Excel, and usual MS Office Suite
  • Excellent communication (both written/verbal) and listening skills
  • An enthusiasm to volunteer and share opinions and views with internal and external stakeholders, and an ability to persuade others.
  • Training and mentoring within a cohesive team environment Good organisational skills

Security level SC UK (UK eyes only) or ability to gain. This requires single UK nationality / passport holder only.
