With 2088MW of pumped hydro generation capacity across two Power Stations. Our assets are and will continue to be front and centre of the Government’s ambition to bring greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050.
We are embarking on an exciting period of major refurbishment at both stations and as a result have an opportunity for an Engineering Programme Manager to join our team.
ENGINEERING AND PROGRAMME MANAGER
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to be a member of the First Hydro Senior Management Team based at Dinorwig. You will provide direction, influence and guidance to major works on critical national infrastructure being part of this one-off opportunity to ensure that First Hydro continues to provide towards the stability and evolution of the UK power system for years to come.
The successful candidate will lead, establish and deliver the Company’s strategic objectives and provide leadership and management for the Mechanical, EC&I and Civil teams across the organisation. Working alongside the Engineering Development Manager, you will ensure that all engineering projects are managed, resourced and aligned to the overall company investment strategy.
This role requires effective co-ordination of the Engineering function and the plant refurbishment projects with management of their inter-dependencies including oversight of any risks and issues arising. It also includes the co-ordination of the organisational change to enable effective implementation and realisation of projected benefits.
The Engineering and Programme Manager is responsible for the delivery, integrity and coherence of the investment strategy. They will develop and maintain the programme environment to support each individual project within it. Managing the capital and engineering budgets, securing and allocating appropriate resources to support the performance of the department and to add value to the business.
Candidates should have the following;
- Demonstrable experience of working on multiple largescale projects covering a range of different scenarios using innovative approaches where appropriate
- Proven experience of working in a strategic role, driving the engineering agenda at Steerco and investment board level
- Contract and budget management including negotiation.
