This is a great opportunity to join a team responsible for ensuring that the UK Nuclear deterrent is assured as safe for its full lifecycle. The role will be influencing the next generation of nuclear deterrence as well as maintaining the current evidence for the existing products to the end of service life.

Engineering/Design Manager

Location - Reading / Basingstoke Area

Salary: £42,650 - £65,000 (dependent on experience)

Key responsibilities:

  • Managing the holistic design of specific areas of a new build nuclear facility

  • Design Changes - Instigating, Co-ordinating, Developing and Closing Out

  • Driving and delivering the close out of forward actions

  • Presenting at Design Reviews and ensuring these are suitable and sufficient

  • Supporting the commissioning, prove out and handover of the facility

  • Engaging with Stakeholders, including; Requirements, Operations, Construction, Safety and Subject Matter Experts to ensure the design is suitable

  • Ensuring compliance with project, safety and operational requirements

  • Supporting, HAZID/HAZOPs and other design meetings as required

  • Developing Designs of equipment and systems

Ideally, we are looking for candidates with a range of experience and whilst not considered a checklist, we would be interested in hearing from candidates with experience and attributes in some of the following:

  • Managing solutions to challenges

  • Taking personal responsibility, ownership of tasks and drives them to closure

  • Managing expectations of internal and external stakeholders

  • Electrical systems

  • Control and Instrumentation

  • Civil/Mechanical engineering

  • Nuclear / High Hazard Environments

  • Managing and delivering designs

  • Project completion

  • Versatility - able to adapt to changing environments as the design and project progress

  • Passion for delivery and getting results

  • Ability to develop and appraise options

Ideally, we would expect candidates to have a Degree or equivalent qualification in a science or engineering discipline or equivalent vocational qualification.

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for the role and be willing and able to travel within the UK and overseas as required once restrictions are lifted.
