MBDA Missile Systems - Deliver for a more secure tomorrow

Weapon System Equipment plays a key role in the development and delivery of MBDAs products to our Customers. We operate across the full range of Operational Commands including Land, Naval, Airborne and, increasingly, Novel Capability domains ensuring MBDAs systems remain at the forefront of defence capability. We specialise in providing physical design coherency across Weapon Systems for all phases of the development cycle and ultimately responsible for the system elements that our end users interact with on a daily basis.

Day to day interaction may involve:
  • Deriving the product architecture at physical and functional levels through interfacing with System Engineering and Design functions
  • Providing a technical specialism with respect to providing engineering solutions for our equipment
  • Deriving baseline Hardware Requirements for the equipment definition and aiding in shaping the Technical Requirement Specifications for the Weapon System and sub systems.
  • Scoping, planning and delivering engineering activities, for the various phases of our development and research programmes, to cost and schedule
  • Ensure cost and scheduled adherence for planned activities and escalating programme changes where required through the engineering and project management organisations
  • Updating project partners on technical progress as well as challenges that will affect the overall delivery or performance of our systems
  • Aiding to provide coherence of legacy design whilst preparing technology enhancements
  • Defining and delivering platform integration activities for the Weapon System Equipment
What were looking for:
Someone who is looking to be part of a highly diverse team to enable MBDA to maintain its reputation as a world leader in Weapon System capability and can demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills as their product knowledge increases to meet our delivery performance objectives. You must demonstrate that you:
  • Are enthusiastic about physical equipment engineering with an Engineering Degree or equivalent relevant experience in an engineering environment
  • Focussed on delivering quality solutions appropriate to the phase and timescales of current tasks within cost boundaries and to a high standard.
  • Will get involved with emerging system architectures and use your experience to guide the direction of the physical solutions and longer term programme / functional visions, with the support from the team around you
  • Appreciate the wider implications of integrating systems into or onto a variety of host platforms across different defence domains (Land, Sea, & Air)
  • Can identify and liaise with company technical experts and make informed, technical choices
  • Have an appreciation for the Safety, Security and transverse design features that are an essential part of modern defence equipment.
  • Assess and analyse options, describe them to a customer, or colleague identifying the benefits to them and making a proposal for the next stage of development.
  • Wish to establish and maintain a wide partner community crossing Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing and Procurement organisations to facilitate the development of solutions
  • Appreciate the need for coherent and accurate business reporting to ensure cost and market competitiveness are maintained

MBDA, a world leader in missiles and missile systems, is a multi-national group with 10,000 employees working across France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Spain and the United States. It has three major aeronautical and defence shareholders - Airbus Group (37.5%), BAE Systems (37.5%) and Finmeccanica (25%) - and is the first truly integrated European defence company.
