NATS is the UK's leading air navigation service provider, handling over 2 million flights each year. It provides air traffic control services from two control centres supporting airports all around the UK, as well as a wide range of commercial solutions to over 30 countries internationally.

NATS is currently engaged on one of its biggest Technology Transformation Programmes to lay the foundations for air traffic control in the future, while at the same time delivering projects to maintain and update its current operational systems. We are hiring Senior Test Managers to work across both of these areas.

The successful candidate will have the ability to manage a large team of 15-20 people, as well as the ability to build/manage teams with diverse skill sets and experience. Due to the key nature of the Senior Test Manager role, you must be able to build and manage relationships with senior stakeholders up to director level and have excellent communication and leadership skills.

Other duties include:

  • Providing expert direction and leadership for the strategy, planning, estimating, technical implementation and conduct of the test team activities.
  • Defining the scope of test lifecycle activities.
  • Managing test activities to provide the necessary Assurance evidence.
  • Writing and maintaining project documentation and producing formal documentation for changes.

Essential skills and experience:

  • You will need to develop and apply innovative solutions in both the management and technical spaces to ensure that deadlines are met. This will involve working closely with Programme, Project and Engineering Managers on strategy and plans, to keep them up to date in a fast-paced environment.
  • You will need the ability to dive into the detail to solve technical problems and the flexibility to ensure Assurance goals are met without impacting project deadlines.
  • You will need to have knowledge of system of system integration with complex data flows and interfaces, and ideally experience of verification of safety/mission critical systems.
  • Good knowledge of ITIL and Service Management would also be useful.
  • In addition, the successful candidate will be a line manager within the Test Practice and will be expected to contribute to the development of the Practice.
