What you will be doing (role duties and responsibilities)
Working in the BAE Systems Applied Intelligence Defence and Space business unit, you will manage the System Integration efforts of a complex and fast-paced space programme, from the payload to the whole space and ground system, through design, development, integration, test and qualification. You will work with third party suppliers to ensure alignment with their integration activities, and will lead and work with skilled engineers to drive the progress and resolve integration issues as they arise, whilst managing risk and opportunity.
This role will enable you to use your knowledge and skills to enable a bold and exciting space project by keeping the team working effectively and efficiently before and during system integration and into operation.
What we are looking for (skills and experience)
We are looking for ambitious, high-calibre people with the following characteristics:
- Experience of working in the space, defence or aerospace sector
- Extensive systems engineering and system integration experience
- Experience planning and executing design and technical reviews
- Knowledge and application of systems engineering processes and functions
- Experience of technical risk management
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all stakeholders
- Experience managing the activities of multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience throughout engineering lifecycle (system definition, design, build, test and operational deployment)
- System-of-systems integration experience
- Demonstrated experience integrating systems to deliver a sophisticated system
- Membership of Professional Body (e.g. IET, ISC, BCS)
- Understanding of radio communication systems and concepts
- Understanding of electronics hardware and software integration
