AWE currently have an excellent opportunity for an Engineering Analyst to apply their expertise within our Engineering function to support unique and challenging weapons related projects that underpin the crucial work we do at AWE.
Engineering Analyst
Location: Reading / Basingstoke Area
Salary: £42,650 - £65,000 (depending on your suitability and level of experience)

Responsibilities will include:
Translating customer requirements into analysis deliverables
Partnering with customers and other stakeholders to articulate analysis results in a clear, easy to understand manner
Applying model verification/validation and quality assurance procedures
Applying static/transient mechanical/thermal analysis, including non-linear implicit and/or explicit methodologies
Applying linear and non-linear FEA methods
Maintaining and promote high standards in ESH (Environmental, safety & health), security and quality
A background in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related discipline will be required for this role and whilst not considered a check list, it would be desirable if candidates can demonstrate some of the following:
Experience of material characterisation and calibration of material models
Experienced in using commercial FEA codes, particularly ANSYS, ABAQUS and LS-DYNA
Experienced in using commercial pre-processors such as Altair HyperMesh and ANSYS Workbench / Mechanical
Experience of multi-physics coupling, non-linear thermal/mechanical, blast, shock, aero, SPH, Euler/Lagrange, Modal and Modal Superposition
An understanding and/or experience of the testing techniques used to acquire mechanical/thermal material property data
Practical experience of using PLM and CAD systems - experience of using Siemens Teamcenter and NX particularly desirable
Experience of using Linux based HPC systems and batch submission systems
Experience of scripting and coding in languages such as Python and C++
Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role and be willing and able to interact with peers internationally including presenting at specialist conferences.
