There is an exciting opportunity to join the Estates team at Aston University as an Electrically biased M&E Engineer, working as part of a multi disciplinary maintenance and engineering team.
The Estates & Capital Development (ECD) department at Aston University are responsible for the strategic and operational management of the campus, including infrastructure and the built environment. The Maintenance and Engineering Team within ECD are responsible for the strategic development and operation of the campus infrastructure and the maintenance of the built environment, including the campus grounds. The team are also responsible for managing energy consumption and driving the University towards carbon zero.
As an Engineering Manager you would be part of the Maintenance and Engineering Team as well as working closely with the ‘Projects Team’ on refurbishment/ new build projects to ensure the engineering systems are maintainable, energy efficient and integrate across the campus.
You would be a technical champion for Mechanical & Electrical Building Services Engineering (Electrically biased), including energy management and appointment as a responsible person for various engineering systems. This includes working collaboratively with the other Engineering Manager to deliver this function.
There are two Building Services Technicians (BST’s) within the team who undertake fault finding, services isolations, surveys and complex systems operation. You will work closely with the, and be a mentor, developing them professional.
The University operates an Agile Working process, whereby activity is carried out in the most suitable place. This will include working on site at the city centre campus and occasionally at the Recreation Centre in Walsall, as well as off-site working from home or other spaces.
