Backend Software Engineer (Java/Scala/Python/Node)

Software Engineer Role 

The Applied Intelligence business of BAE Systems delivers solutions which help to protect and enhance the connected world. Our solutions combine large scale data exploitation, ‘intelligence-grade’ security and complex services and solutions integration. We operate in four key domains of expertise: Cyber Security, Financial Crime, National Threat Defence and Digital Transformation.

Requirements

-          Having 2 + years’ experience in Backend and API development work using associated technologies Scala/NodeJS/Java/Python

-          Have experience in projects driven with Agile methodologies

-          Effective communication.

-          Result Oriented Person.

-          Quick to adapt and learn new technologies.

Responsibilities / Behaviours

• Writing well designed, testable and efficient code
• Responding to client requests, anticipating and meeting client problems and needs using innovative approaches when applicable.
• Involvement in all aspects of the development life cycle.
• Knowledge sharing with colleagues and assisting team members with their objectives.
• Analysis and resolution of software defects
• Contribution to improving software development approaches and quality of deliverables.
• Reporting progress to Scrum Master, highlighting issues before they become a problem
• Provide estimation for engineering task based on delivery project assigned by the Engineering Manager.

Need to have

-  Good experience in a backend development technology such as Java/Node/Python/Scala

-  A willingness and capability to learn other technologies

-  Experience using Unit Testing Frameworks

-  Strong communication skills

Nice to have

-          NodeJS

-          SpringBoot

-          SVN, GIT

-          Jboss Application Server, Websphere Application Server

-          Experience developing in the cloud (Azure/AWS)

-          Apache Kafka and NiFi experience

-          Familiarity with BDD and TDD tools
