AWE are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to join the Warhead Engineering Team in support of AWE Programmes. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Craft Engineer with CAD experience looking to further their career in design engineering or an experienced design engineer looking for a fresh challenge.

Location: Reading / Basingstoke Area

Salary: £33,850 - £45,000 (depending on your suitability and level of experience)

Within this role you will have the opportunity to:

  • Produce and deliver conceptual designs, detail designs, manufacturing specifications, operational documentation, and validation evidence for mechanical engineering solutions

  • Produce calculations and analysis in support of the above, when necessary

  • Maintenance of design history

  • Support technical reviews and give presentations on design solutions, when necessary

  • Work with Senior Engineers in scoping, planning, and estimating future activities

  • Apply the practical use of engineering methods, tools and processes

  • Support the training and mentoring of Apprentice & Graduates on the team

Whilst not considered a checklist, we will expect candidates to be able to demonstrate some of the following:

  • Demonstrable experience of working on designs and or post design services through product lifecycle using model-based engineering applications and engineering tools, such as Computer Aided Design Packages (NX) and Teamcenter and have the aptitude to use similar applications

  • Experience and knowledge, either through application and/or design and production, of engineering drawing packs using BS 8888 alongside a knowledge of machines, tools and manufacturing processes

  • Completion of a recognised apprenticeship scheme or an equivalent vocational qualification in a STEM discipline supported by practical experience or an HNC / HND or higher qualification in an engineering discipline

  • Proven experience in a Design Office environment

  • An ability to work with a range of stakeholders (technical & non-technical)

All Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.
