Engineering Laboratory Technician

Location: Reading / Basingstoke Area

Salary: £26,500 - £35,000 (depending on your suitability and level of experience)

The Warhead Engineering Group are looking for a motivated Laboratory Technician to focus on the specification, design and verification of components.

The successful candidate will be working with a multi-disciplined team and should have a background in a laboratory setting, with the knowledge to support component development from design through to test.

The role holder will support a team in the design, development and delivery of systems and components; responsible for:

  • Developing work instructions and safe systems of work

  • Awareness of PPE and COSHH assessments

  • Producing test plans and supporting functional testing of components

  • Producing experimental flash reports and data for the engineering team

  • Specification and hands on development of test systems

  • Planning and execution of test activities

  • Good lab practice essential, sample handling, labelling, recording and reporting results, lab cleanliness, safe working following defined procedures

  • Ideally candidates will have knowledge of pressurised systems design (fixed systems), DSEAR assessments and High Voltage working (desirable)

This is an ideal opportunity for candidates who completed an apprenticeship or equivalent vocational qualification in an STEM discipline, supported by practical experience, or, have have some experience in laboratory practices and have achieved an HNC/HND or degree qualification in a science or engineering discipline.

This role will allow you to build your knowledge and expertise whilst learning about the practical use of Engineering methods, tools and processes in support of our important mission and offers great training and development opportunities.

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role. As this role will support overseas test programmes, candidates should be willing and able to travel and work abroad if required.
